Skype application is one of the most widely used video calling applications in today's time. One can use Skype on their laptop, mobile phone and PC with the help of a web camera or secondary camera feature. One can chat, or connect via video call anytime very easily. All this has to be done by connecting the system to an internet network. I have been using this application on my Dell laptop from quite some time and it has been offering me a superb experience.
Recently, I decided to get rid of Skype and download another video calling application on the Windows 8 system. When on trying to remove the application, I saw I can't uninstall Skype. Every time, I went ahead with the option, the system would simply deny the change. This was strange, and I really wanted to know why such an error was occurring on the system. This was a new laptop and I felt there were absolutely no room for any error to take place on the system.
The problem did not end there, I even witnessed a number of issues and realized Windows can't uninstall Skype or any other application that were present. In the beginning, I thought it could be a compatibility error and reinstalled the application after double checking the compatibility. But, even then I failed to run the program on the system.
Do not opt for free software
I wondered why I can't install or uninstall Skype on the device. I felt this could be a result of virus issues on the system. To tackle the installation and uninstalling faults, I decided to install a free version of Avast antivirus program on the laptop. Even then, something did not seem to be working right. I thought the free version software would work best as any other software, but unfortunately my laptop now failed to function properly. There was a reason for this.
As we all know, there are too many advanced software available online these days. And quite a lot of them are free in nature. It may sound very alluring to any user, but like my friend says these software may not be safe for the systems. Such software are generally designed with the idea that one will download and install them. But once these fake software are installed on the system, they began to corrupt other system files on the device too. The system then randomly shows up errors pertaining to roottools.dll, RtmCodecs.dll files. These files are required by Windows to run applications on Windows.
The free software are generally corrupt. They slowly and steadily tend to engulf the system files, destroy them and extract essential data from the registry. They also lay a severe impact on the computer by downloading malware. So, the next time when one tries to carry out any bank transaction or make online payments using the same computer, they unfortunately fall into the trap of some nasty scam.
Opt for legitimate software programs only
To protect us from falling prey to any fraudulent activity online, one needs to take the help of an all-rounder PC program remover immediately. Before downloading any software on the laptop and PC system, one needs to cross check the software's authenticity multiple times. Legitimate websites are trustworthy and they are the best sources to download any software. These software may not be available for free but of course, they will be the best for all computing devices.
Free software may lead to numerous issues on the computing devices. Besides the above mentioned issues, they can also remove important files or fail to remove any corrupt file at all. They might even deposit unwanted program files from their developer in the system. For this reason, it leads to more potential problems that causes many programs to run slower than usual or sometimes even fails to run it in the correct manner.
Failing to make calls on Skype
I had faced a similar issue on another computer system of mine. For some reason, I could not access Skype for Business Online. Every time I tried to login the application, I came across a sign-in and authentication error on it. For some reason, I was simply not being able to use the application. I could not even use Skype Click to Call or uninstall the application.
I would like to share one other issue that I faced on my friend's PC system few weeks ago. The PC runs on Windows. I noticed that the web browser and few other programs could not run on the system at all. Internet Explorer, Microsoft Office and Skype - none would run properly. My friend stated that the problem was basically with the free software that she had installed on the system some time ago. It was because of this reason, I realized I can't uninstall the Skype application nor click to make video calls on the system. To remove the problems, firstly I had to completely remove the free software. Then I had to remove the files like roottools.dll and RtmCodecs.dll related to running Skype on Windows. The free software had corrupted these files and thus the error. I needed a proper tool for file removal.
